Your Website Wants to Work for You

Your business has a website. The designers who created it were probably experts from a reputable web design company. You can find your site by putting the name of your company on the box of a search engine. But you should know that only a very small number of people end up on your site using because they entered your company name into Google.

The vast majority of your (potential) website visitors and future clients look for a business online using what are called "keywords". Keywords are the search terms that are relevant for your business. For example, for a dentist who specializes in working with children, potential keywords include "invisalign braces" and "wisdom teeth removal".

Keywords matter because someone who has never heard of your business won't know to search for your business by name and will be relying on your website showing up when they ask Google to help them solve their current problem or issue. Think about it...when did you last visit a site after hearing about it from the radio or TV ad?!  Neither are your potential clients.

Your site needs to be positioning itself and your business correctly in the online world. Done right, your website should attract 9 out of 10 visitors from search engines who are part of your key audience. These are people who have a real interest in finding your products and services. These are people who want to learn more about how your business stands out from the competition. They also want details about your company and how to reach you.

Websites that are on top of search engine results get the lion's share of visitors compared to those further down the page and on the following pages. The rating of your website in search engine results affects your business. That is why we need to answer one question:

How can you grab the attention of giant search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and DuckDuckGo?

This is where good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) comes in.

Your website content should be clear to your potential clients and friendly to search engines. You can optimize your site by making sure that you use relevant text that is easy to read and engaging. You can do this by taking a critical analysis of your market and their questions/concerns. If you answer their questions & concerns, you're helping them and search engines will reward you for doing so.

Search engines take time to calculate the value and engagement with your content. This relates to the requests from the visitors of your site. SEO is a continual process, both because your audience's needs can change and because the search engine ranking algorithms change.

To best serve and attract your audience, you should be staying up-to-date on SEO best practices and ensuring your content is always meeting their needs.
